Greater Bilby Release
On the 10th September 2020 I received a very exciting phone call in the late evening. Would I be willing to jump on a private plane in the morning and fly 10 Greater Bilbies to the Sturt Desert and document their release back into the wild... quite possibly one of the best phone calls I have ever received. This would be the first time in twenty years that these little desert marsupials would be back on home soil.
This is all thanks to a NSW government collaboration between UNSW & Taronga Conservation Society, with special mention to Taronga Western Plains Zoo for their success in breeding the release animals.
